Jotunheimen National Park is the highest mountain range in Norway with Galdhøpiggen (8,100 ft) as the highest peak in Norway. Jotunheimen stretches the borders between the counties of Oppland to the north and Sogn og Fjordane to the south.
Jotunheimen is a place of many Viking myths and legends about the Norse gods. Jotunheimen, meaning “Home of the giants”, was name by inspiration of the Norse myth “Jotunheimr”. Viking myths and legends from viking sagas decribe Jotunheimr as home of Norse giants “Jotunns” that fought against the humans in Midgard and Odins kingdom of gods in Asgard.
As Odin’s two ravens gave him a birds eye view of Jotunheimr from above, Lasse Tur’s book offers spectacular birds eye view images of Jotunheimen Seen from Above.
Lasse Tur (born June 9, 1954 in Oslo) is an award winning Norwegian aerial photographer with over 43 yrs experience. He started his photography career in 1972 and has been an aerial photographer since 1988. He is the founder and CEO of his own company Mapaid AS.
In 2010 he published the first of aerial photography book series “Seen from Above“. The series was created along with journalist and author Odd Helge Brugrand and pilot Oddmar Stenhaug. Lasse Tur has published 26 aerial photo books in multiple languages since the start of the series Seen from Above.
